Microsoft revealed its beta program for Microsoft Flight on Thursday.

The company is accepting applications to be part of the Microsoft Flight beta testing group. “We’re thrilled to announce that the Microsoft Flight Beta is scheduled to kick-off in January 2012,” said a Microsoft spokesperson announcing the beta program. “We will be sorting through your applications over the coming month and will get back to qualifying participants with additional details throughout our beta phases in January.”

Microsoft’s original Flight Simulator game was axed in early 2009 after the development team was laid off following job cuts at Microsoft. Microsoft Flight is the follow up to the simulator series and is designed with performance in mind. Microsoft’s Flight development team shared some details on the upcoming game last month, including hardware specifications. Microsoft Flight is expected to be made available next year.
